E’ stata una edizione certamente ricca di emozioni per Kessel Racing quella che si è conclusa solo qualche ora fa sul tracciato delle Ardenne. Una edizione che verrà ricordata per la straordinaria “pole-position”conquistata nella categoria “PRO-AM” con la vettura numero 11 di Michael Broniszewski-Alessandro Bonacini-Micheal Lyons e Andrea Piccini e la possibilità di scattare dalla seconda fila in una classica storica dell’automobilismo sportivo a ruote coperte. A queste emozioni si lega poi la gioia del bellissimo terzo posto conquistato dalla vettura “AM” con Stephen Earle-Liam Talbot-Marco Zanuttini e Marc Rostan, capaci di rimontare con un passo gara entusiasmante da centro gruppo, e conquistare un piazzamento certamente esaltante. A queste emozioni positive va affiancata la delusione del ritiro per la vettura “PRO-AM” quando mancava poco allo scadere delle prime sei ore di gara. Un contatto con un’altra vettura, provocato probabilmente dal fondo ancora viscido, dopo la pioggia che ha segnato le prime fasi di gara, ha messo definitivamente fuori gioco la Ferrari 458 GT3, che si era dimostrata assolutamente competitiva e, che sino al momento del contatto aveva marciato con precisione assoluta ai vertici della classifica. Archiviate le emozioni forti della “24 Ore di Spa”, per Kessel Racing l’appuntamento con il Blancpain Endurance Series è fissato per il 20 settembre sul tracciato del Nurburgring, dove si terrà l’evento conclusivo della stagione.
RONNIE KESSEL (Team Principal): In questo momento ci sono sentimenti contrastanti dopo aver vissuto tutte le emozioni che solo una gara come la “24 Ore di Spa” può offrirti. C’è molta gioia e moltissima soddisfazione per aver conquistato il podio con gli “AM” che sono stati fantastici. Abbiamo fatto 23 “pit-stop” in 24 ore, senza avere mai un problema e questo grazie al lavoro straordinario fatto dal Team e dai piloti. C’è anche molto dispiacere per come sono andate le cose tra i “PRO-AM” dopo aver fatto delle prove fantastiche e esserci guadagnati la “pole” di classe in una gara cosi importante. Stava procedendo tutto alla perfezione, ma l’incidente ha messo fine ai nostri sogni ed anche alla possibilità di giocarci il campionato nell’ultima gara. Un vero peccato.”

It was definitely an exciting race weekend for Kessel Racing, which ended just a couple of hours ago on the legendary track in the Ardennes. This edition of the 24-Hour-race will be remembered for the amazing “pole position” conquered in the “PRO-AM” category by the Kessel Racing with number 11 with Michael Broniszewski-Alessandro Bonacini-Micheal Lyons e Andrea Piccini and therefore the possibility to start from row two in the race, which is probably the most legendary in the world. And then there is a marvellous third place won in the “AM” category with Stephen Earle-Liam Talbot-Marco Zanuttini e Marc Rostan after an amazing pursuit race, concluding the event with a maybe even fantastic place. But then not all went well: a “PRO-AM” car had to retire not even six hours into the race. A collision with another car – probably caused by the wet track after the rain at the start of the race – set and end to the adventure of the Ferrari 458 GT3, which had a formidable race rhythm up to the point it had to retire. Now with the 24 Hours of Spa filed Kessel Racing will participate in the next Blancpain Endurance Series race on 20 September at the Nürburgring for the final race of the season.
RONNIE KESSEL (Team Principal): At the moment we have mixed feelings after this exciting race of the 24 Hours of Spa. We’re enthusiastic and satisfied with the place on the podium with the AMs, who were fantastic. We had 23 pit stops without any problems, thanks to the incredible work by the team and the drivers. We’re also really sorry about how things went in the PRO AM after the fantastic practice and the pole position in the category of such an important race. Everything was perfect but the accident set an end to our dreams and the possibility to fight for the Championship right up to the last race. What a pity.”
