Ancora un buon risultato per Joel Camathias nel qualificatissimo Campionato italiano GT. Il pilota ticinese ha conquistato un sesto posto in gara-1 al Mugello, l’impegnativo tracciato toscano sul quale si disputava la quarta prova della stagione.
Insieme a Mauro Calamia, sulla Porsche 911 R dell’Autorlando Sport, la coppia elvetica stava per centrare un risultato ancora migliore in gara-2, ma una leggera uscita di strada ha costretto la vettura al ritiro. La prossima manche di campionato è prevista il 13 settembre, dopo la paus estiva, a Vallelunga.
Joel Camathias:
“Possiamo essere soddisfatti perchè ancora una volta otteniamo un buon risultato e soprattutto, dimostriamo di aver avuto un ottimo passo, pur misurandoci con vetture molto più agguerrite. In gara-1, Mauro è partito bene e io ho centrato un altro buon piazzamento, sesto, che poteva essere migliore se non fossimo stati svantaggiati da un’uscita della safety-car nel momento peggiore per noi. In gara-2, sono riuscito a risalire fino al quarto posto nel mio turno, il primo, e Mauro stava mantenendo l’ottima posizione, quando purtroppo è finito nella ghiaia, in questo circuito davvero insidioso. Peccato per i punti persi, ma la prestazione è stata buona e nelle prossime gare, cercheremeo di migliorare in qualifica per partire in migliore posizione.”

Positive sixth position at Mugello for Joel Camathias
Another good result for Joel Camathias in the highly-competitive Italian GT Championship. The Swiss driver has taken sixth in Race-1 at Mugello, the difficult Tuscan track where the fourth round of the season was held.
Together with Mauro Calamia, at the wheel of the Porsche 911 R by Autorlando Sport, the Swiss pair was bound to an even better finish position in Race-2, but a slight off-track forced the car to an early retirement. The next round of the series, after the summer break, will take place at Vallelunga on 13 September.
Joel Camathias:
“We can be happy, because we collect another good result and have proved good pace, despite competing against stronger rivals. In Race-1, Mauro took a good start and I could finish the job, taking a 6th that could have been a better result, if the safety-car had not gone out at the wrong moment for us. In Race-2, I made a good opening stint, putting the car in P4, a position that Mauro was keeping with no problem. Unfortunately, he ran wide and got stuck in the gravel, something easy on such a difficult track. It’s a pity for the points lost, but the performance was good and we’ll try, in the next races, to improve our qualifying results and grid positions.”
