Today Saturday 9th September the drivers in the French F4 Championship took part in the weekend’s first race. They were on Kumho rain tyres as the track was wet when they lined up on the grid. They all put on a good show in a race in which there was a lot of overtaking to the delight of the spectators who flocked to the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit.
Marvin Klein, who started in fifth place, made a great comeback and took advantage of the battle in which his rivals in front of him were involved after which he opened up a gap. Klein scored his first victory today which he certainly hopes won’t be his last. Victor Martins just behind him managed to fight off the attacks of the drivers who were trying to pass him after having battled for a long time with Arthur Rougier, Christian Muñoz and Klein. Charles Milesi, fourth on the grid, managed to gain and clinched his third podium finish this season.
Rougier who managed to snatch first place from Martins was unable to hold on to it and finally finished fourth. However, he managed to score precious points in the championship. Hugo Chevalier ended the day in fifth place after a good race among the front-runners. Christian Muñoz who started in third place was unable to match the pace of the leaders and fell back to see the flag in sixth spot.
Stuart White and Jean-Baptiste Mela, who came home in seventh and eighth places can be satisfied with their day’s work as they finished in the top 10. Thomas Drouet and Florian Venturi drove solid races in the mid-field and saw the flag in ninth and tenth positions. Danish driver Noah Watt made a good impression in his first outing with 11th place. Ugo de Wilde confirmed his good qualifying performance with 12th.
Pierre-Alexandre Jean and Amaury Cordeel played a cat and mouse game for most of the heat and the French diver got the upper hand on the line. Pierre-Louis Chovet finished his first F4 race in 15th place, while Javier Gonzalez was unable to keep up with the pack and came home 16th. The young Mexican will be determined to do better in the two races on Sunday 10th September.
