Nick Heidfeld will debut the M4Electro in public at the Goodwood Festival of Speed
Heidfeld will return in a bid to set the fastest open-wheel electric time on the hillclimb
Record attempt comes on the 18th anniversary of Heidfeld’s overall course record time
26 June 2017, Donington Park: Mahindra Racing’s Nick Heidfeld will return to Goodwood for the Festival of Speed this week in a bid to make history and set the open-wheel electric benchmark for the hillclimb course.
Heidfeld is currently the course record holder at Goodwood after setting an impressive time of 41.6 seconds in a McLaren MP4/13 in 1999. If successful, Heidfeld will be the first driver to hold two records at Goodwood.
The attempt will also be the first public outing of Mahindra Racing’s season four challenger, the M4Electro. To date the car has only been tested by Heidfeld and teammate Felix Rosenqvist, as well as Mahindra ambassador and actress Gul Panag who successfully trained to drive the car in less than 24 hours.
The season four cars are not scheduled to make their official debut until pre-season testing later this year, but Mahindra Racing is excited to be the first team to unveil the next generation of Formula E car. The M4Electro is an evolution of three seasons’ worth of learning, and will be the team’s first foray into a single gear solution.
