The fifth round of the 2017-2018 ABB FIA Formula E Championship will take place in Mexico City, Mexico, on the 3rd of March, 2018.
Mahindra Racing return to Mexico for a third time lying second in both the Drivers’ and Teams’ Championships by a few points, with Felix trailing Jean Eric Vergne by five points and Techeetah leading with a two point advantage.
The 2.09 kilometre long track through the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is among the highest race tracks in the world at an elevation of 2,250 metres above sea level, and tends to be a physical challenge for the drivers due to the high speed sections flowing into slower sections and corners. The track layout itself is unchanged, the circuit will once again feature the iconic sequence through the Foro Sol baseball stadium, and many sections of the track are tackled at high speed through long curves. Combined with the low air pressure and thinner air, technically this is a unique race venue and proves to be one that is relished as a challenge for an entirely different set of reasons compared to other tracks.
Nick Heidfeld is looking to get back out on track and put an end to a small streak of what haven’t been the best races for him. He’s Quick (Nick), efficient, and is most definitely ready to take the fight to the top of the grid.
Felix Rosenqvist is ready to bounce back after his fourth place in Santiago, give it his all and speed his way into the top positions again.

“I had a tough weekend here last year and so did the whole team – so it’s one of the races I want to come back and do a good result, as the potential was very good especially in the race. In qualifying last year we struggled, so we’re looking to improve that and I think we can – knowing what we know now one year later.
Overall my strategy is the same as the previous rounds: just keeping cool and taking the points available on the day. We haven’t reached the half way point [of the season] yet and we want to build a solid base of points in this first part of the season”
“The nature of the circuit, once again, is different from the ones we’ve had this season – driving partly on a permanent, fast and flat race track and partly on a more bumpy part of the circuit providing a couple of chicanes. Last year Mexico probably was the most unlucky race for us as a team. I feel very well prepared to change it this year.”
