Former F1 driver Vitantonio Liuzzi will replace Michela Cerruti at the Trulli Formula E team for the forthcoming Miami ePrix.

The Italian will take to the fully-electric single-seater for the first time after Cerruti decided to withdraw her entry for ‘professional reasons’ according to the team.

Liuzzi said: “I’m very happy about this nice opportunity to race with Jarno. I was here on holiday when I got a call from Jarno asking if I wanted to race for the team, of course I said yes. It’s a privilege to be racing with such a long time friend and it will be very nice to be in the same team. The first big task will be to find a race suit! Don’t be surprised if you see me in one of Jarno’s helmets!”

Team principal, Lucio Cavuto, added; “The whole team and I are very sad that Michela won’t be racing with us any longer. We would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her great contribution to the team and wish her the very best of luck for the future. We are very happy to have Vitantonio coming to race for the team. Not only is he a world class driver, but he is also a long term friend from our city Pescara. We’re hoping that we will see some great support from the whole city and that they will be cheering for us on Saturday.”

The Miami ePrix takes place on March 14 with full coverage throughout on the official website.
